A new year means new career goals. It’s easy to picture where we’d like to be by the end of the year, but setting goals to get us there can be overwhelming. As you get used to writing 2022 instead of 2021, consider setting a few goals to help you accomplish big things in 2022.

Be Realistic

As Remi Witt said, “Your goal should just be out of reach. But not out of sight”. Make sure the goals you’re setting for yourself are going to require working hard to achieve but aren’t going to leave you exhausted and disappointed. Set realistic goals and start working on them immediately!

Stop Waiting for the “Perfect Time”

We all want to see signs that the time is right. When it comes to your career, though, there is rarely going to be a “perfect time.” It’s best to get started as soon as you can, and make the timing work for you.

Talk To Your Supervisor

If you’re looking to grow in your current position, there is nobody better to bounce ideas off of than your supervisor. Bringing your goals to their attention will show investment on your part. They will be glad to hear it! Don’t be afraid to ask for advice on how to set realistic career goals for the new year. They’ve almost certainly thought of a few ideas already!
