September PATHS Training: Free Workplace Safety

September PATHS Training: Free Workplace Safety Resources for Pennsylvania Employers & Employees

September is a great time to refresh your workplace safety knowledge—and PATHS is making it easier than ever to do so.

The Pennsylvania Training for Health and Safety (PATHS) program is offering more than 40 training courses throughout September, covering a wide range of important workplace safety and preparedness topics.

From emergency planning and first aid to substance awareness, suicide prevention, and active shooter preparedness, September’s training calendar provides valuable opportunities for both employers and employees to strengthen their safety knowledge.

Why Workplace Safety Training Matters

A strong safety program isn’t just about meeting requirements. It is about creating a workplace where employees feel prepared, supported, and confident in responding to potential hazards.

Regular training can help organizations:

  • Identify and reduce workplace hazards
  • Prepare employees to respond to emergencies
  • Promote a stronger safety culture
  • Increase employee awareness and engagement
  • Help supervisors recognize and address safety concerns
  • Support employee health and well-being
  • Reduce the likelihood and severity of workplace injuries

For employers, investing in safety education can have benefits that extend far beyond the training session itself.

With more than 40 courses available, there are plenty of opportunities to find training that fits your workplace needs. Here are just a few of the September sessions worth highlighting:

Drug and Alcohol Awareness for Employees

September 1 | 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Substance use can affect workplace safety, productivity, judgment, and overall employee well-being. This training helps employees better understand the risks associated with drugs and alcohol in the workplace.

Drug and Alcohol Awareness for Supervisors

September 1 | 1:30–2:30 p.m.

Supervisors play an important role in maintaining a safe workplace. This session provides supervisors with information they can use to recognize concerns and better understand their responsibilities related to workplace drug and alcohol awareness.

 Emergency Action Plans

September 8 | 9:30–10:30 a.m.

When an emergency occurs, employees need to know what to do. An effective Emergency Action Plan helps organizations prepare for potential emergencies and gives employees clear direction on how to respond.

 First Aid Awareness

September 9 | 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Knowing how to respond when an injury or medical emergency occurs can make a meaningful difference. First Aid Awareness training can help employees become more familiar with appropriate responses to common workplace incidents.

Certified Workplace Safety Committee (CWSC) Training

PATHS is also offering Certified Workplace Safety Committee (CWSC) Member Training throughout September.

Upcoming sessions include:

  • September 3: 8:30–9:30 a.m.
